150 Years of The Fox Terrier Club
The Fox Terrier Club’s 150th celebratory event took place on August 1st & 2nd 2026. Established in 1876 The Fox Terrier Club is the 2nd oldest club in the UK. In order to celebrate such a momentous event, the officers & committee decided to apply to have 2 CC shows back-to-back with a Gala dinner in the evening of Day 1.
With Royal Kennel Club approval in place the committee then worked on the details; judges, venue, suitable hotel for such an event, sponsors, media partners etc.
After 2 years of planning the special weekend was upon us and everything fell into place. Breed judges from the USA & Finland, an international entry of dogs of both coats. The Sports Connexion venue most beautifully laid out by show manager Phillip Horspool assisted by Nick Fowler, a Gala Dinner at Chesford Grange hotel, so well attended and so enjoyable with such a great camaraderie. Two days attention on Wire and Smooth Fox Terriers.
All that is left to say is a huge thank you to our breed judges Bill McFadden (USA) and Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen (Finland), to the exhibitors, many of whom had travelled great distances, the ring stewards, Eukanuba our main sponsors, plus others who provided lovely gifts for the special raffle and all those who attended as spectators on the 2 days. It all made for a memorable weekend. Thanks everyone!
